Propagation of Rabies Virus in Tissue Culture
نویسندگان
چکیده
Rabies virus has been propagated in serum-Tyrode solution containing either embryo mouse brain or embryo chick brain. The culture virus reached a titre of 3 x 10(-5) cc. after 4 days' incubation at 37 degrees C., and survived at least 2 months at 5 degrees C. in the liquid or dry state.

Background and Objectives: In this study, capability of Vero cells for growth on FibraCel disks were compared on 3 kinds of microcarriers including Cytodex-1, Cutodex-3, and Sigma Solohill in 500 ml Spinner flasks in both serum contained medium (DMEM+10% Fetal Calf Serum, FCS) and serum-free medium (VP-SFM). The propagation of fixed PV (Pasteur Virus) strain of rabies in Vero cells, for product...
متن کاملEPIDEMIOLOGICAL SURVEY OF DIFFERENT RABIES VIRUS STRAINS IN IRAN
Rabies is widespread in all provinces of Iran. This study presents an investigation by a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technique for the purpose of rabies diagnosis and also Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (RFLP) for determination of the type of the rabies virus. In addition, PCR proves to be a powerful tool for molecular epidemiology studies allowing analysis of the infecting strain...
متن کاملSensitive procedure for detecting residual viable virus in inactivated rabies vaccine.
A procedure for testing inactivated rabies vaccines of tissue culture origin for residual viable virus is reported in which the vaccine to be tested is passed in primary hamster kidney cell culture (PHK) before mouse inoculation. In preliminary experiments, titrations of rabies virus in which each dilution was passed in PHK before inoculating mice yielded titers 100 to 10,000 times higher than ...
متن کاملProkaryotic Expression, Purification, and Polyclonal Antibody Production of a Truncated Recombinant Rabies Virus L Protein
Background: Rabies virus (RABV) is a deadly neurotropic virus that causes the disease of rabies in humans and animals. L protein is one of the large structural protein of rabies virus, which displays multiple enzymatic activities, and is required for viral transcription and replication. Objectives: A truncated L protein of Rabies virus is being cloned, expressed and purified to produce relevant...
متن کاملA Study on the Ocular Infection with Rabies Virus in Mouse
Introduction: The most common mode of rabies virus transmission is through a bite wound or contact of broken skin with saliva of a rabid animal. Various other routes of virus transmission include exposure of mucous membranes (i.e. eyes, nose, and mouth) to infected saliva of a rabid animal, aerosol transmission, and corneal transplantation. Laboratory workers during work with rabies virus and v...
